Power Plant Impeller
Balancing this 13,000 lb Inconel Impeller was a two step process. First step was to remove the imbalance with out the Impeller coated. Once achieve the Impeller was sent out for coating. With out the exact weight of the coating the Impeller was coated and bought back for rebalance. After the imbalance from the coating determine our technician ground off the material with enough to compensate for the recoat of the ground area. Impeller was recoated and returned. Power Plant Impeller
This Stainless Steel 17,000 lb impeller arrived at our shop with 50 lbs of imbalance. After our technician determined the amount of imbalance, the customer was given two choices to correct. One have the impeller sent out for concentric machining to remove most of the weight, or hand grind the areas of imbalance.
Due to the tight time line the customer decide to have us remove the material by grinding the imbalance out. With the ability to determine the exact spot to remove material the imbalance was bought down to acceptable standards. The impeller was then hand polished to remove any rough areas left by the hand grinding. Final imbalance was less than 1 pound.

Multiple Diameter Custom Finish Boring Bar
This Cat 50 custom boring bar was bought in to the shop for a Dynamic Two Plane balance. The specification was to a G2.5 tolerance. The initial imbalance areas were defined and part was layed out for material removal. Care was taken to ensure that were the material was removed from did not interfere with the internal coolant lines. Material was removed by milling to give the tool a cleaner look. The balance tolerance was achieved and sent on to customer.Click to enlarge
